Brazil!
We left Dominica and traveled several days through the Amazon. We went slowly because the Amazon river’s water is relatively shallow, and we did not want to disturb the wildlife. The locals seemed amazed at the sight of our ship, and several times kids would approach the ship with canoes and ride the waves; it must have been an unusual sight. After several days of classes (I’m taking Stress...

Brazil!
‘sup? I’m in the Amazon River still, getting closer to our destination - Manaus. We’ll be arriving tomorrow morning, and I leave for Rio de Janeiro de day after. Life is hard. I know I haven’t really updated much, but let’s just say life aboard the MV Explorer is pretty sweet. The food isn’t the greatest and our cabins are relatively small, but that...

My two days in Roseau, Dominica
Day 1: We arrived really early in the morning. I woke up at 7:40, showered and went to eat breakfast. We went on a tour called “Bumpiing tour,” which basically took us all around the island. The first place we visited was Titou Gorge, a narrow canyon that leads to a small waterfall, which we climbed. The whole experience was amazing. I had done something similar before in Mexico, but it wasn’t...

Virgin Islands!
I just looked at the computer screen in the library, where they have a GPS set up so we can see our location at all times. I’m actually next to the American Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John’s, and we are approaching the British Virgin Islands. The ship is only going at 14mph, mainly because we’re relatively close to Dominica… but need an extra day of classes. Sat. 15 Jan 9:30...

Hello from Puerto Rico
Here’s what I was up to today: I woke up at 10:20 and hit my snooze button a couple of times before waking up. I showered really quickly and headed up the stairs to my first class - International Business. I arrived exactly at 10:45, which was when the class started. I have that class with Carla, Emily, Francisco, Amira, Marie, etc. The professor seems really nice, and the class seems...

Bahamassss
We’re in our room in the Bahamas for a little while. I’m next to Lilly, Tram, Idin, Francisco and Drew. We don’t know what we’re doing tonight but we walked the whole island before coming back…. that was tiring. I’m out.

And so it begins.
It’s finally here, the day I leave for the Bahamas. I’m not sure what else there is to say, but I’m pretty anxious to meet everyone. Hey, ginger, I’m coming for you! So here it goes. This is the last time I’ll be using this computer in four months. The last blog update from home. Goodbye US, hello Bahamas, Dominica, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius, India,...

4 days until Semester at Sea.
I haven’t even started packing. Where did time go? I feel so unprepared, but so does everyone else I’ve spoken to- so either that’s normal or we’re all screwed. Either way, I should probably start packing, and buy everything I still need, because time is running short. 4 days. I remember when I started counting the days. It must have been about 180. It’ll definitely...
